Will the Platform replace RETS?
Yes! RESO is no longer updating RETS specs, shifting efforts entirely to the RESO Web API. RETS is an older format specific to the real estate industry, whereas APIs are now the widely accepted modern standard for data transmission and reception. For additional details, please refer to our Advantages of Spark®/RESO Web APIs Over RETS page.
How much does it cost a developer to participate in the platform?
It’s free to sign up for a Spark API developer account. Once you have access to data from your first MLS, API access costs $50/mo for each MLS you can access. Multiple API keys for one MLS will incur only one $50/mo charge. Full pricing details can be found here.
Do I have to get permission from each MLS?
Yes.
Can I use the API to replicate the MLS content?
Yes. Additional information can be found in our Spark® API Replication documentation. Please be advised that we are also equipped to handle live queries.
Do the APIs have a display component I can add to my website?
No. Our APIs are raw data feeds meant to be used by web developers. If you’re interested in prebuilt listing display solutions you can easily include on your website, you may be interested in our IDX WordPress Plugin or SmartFrame.
